S3W Server Modules
Basic firewall
Our basic firewall – based on a secure Linux operating system – provides a physical barrier between your network and third parties, enabling permitted traffic and blocking unauthorised access. This firewall can also include a variety of extra functions – all without the need for extra hardware.
Network Basic (DNS server)
Once you have a server with a firewall, the server can perform many other functions and become the IT lynchpin of your organisation. The DCHP module in this package enables all PCs, laptops and printers within the internal network to work together and safely share access to the internet. <is this correct?>
Network DHCP (DHCP server)
If you choose to add any additional functions to your firewall, such as mail, web or file servers, a DNS program needs to be installed. This will provide the internet-specific DNS information about these functions to authorised third parties. The result is that you can use your functions safely, while also allowing access to your servers to third parties you trust.
Network Proxy (Proxy server)
About 80% of computer problems are caused by internal network users, particularly those who engage in uncontrolled downloading. This can not only create network problems, but also reduce business productivity. Our Network Proxy module monitors uncontrolled downloading of programs and restricts access to designated websites (e.g., MSN, Napster, etc.). The module can also be fitted with an F-secure Gatekeeper that checks all exchanged files for viruses, spam and spyware.
Network VPN and IP-Sec
With our Network VPN and IP-Sec modules, it is possible to create secure links over the regular internet connection.
• The IP-Sec module uses an encrypter to make safe links to third parties, including, for example, your customers.
• The VPN module can create completely secure links to outside locations, such as your employees’ homes. This module, therefore, increases the number of locations from which employees can access business applications, which, in turn, increases the flexibility of your working environment.
Web Server Basic
Based on the widely-used Apache web server, our Web Server Basic offers you all the components you need to create an internet site. In addition, a database can be linked to this server, so that the owner can safely add information to the web server and users can easily withdraw information from it. Our web server conforms to uniform programming standards, including Perl and PHP-scripting. In addition, this module includes a Webalizer application that enables you to gather information concerning the use of your website.
Web applications (web mail, web calendar and PhProject)
We have developed a number of intranet applications – web mail, a web calendar and a project management system – that can be accessed safely from the internet. These modules, therefore, are particularly suitable for organisations with people who work from external locations. What’s more, these web applications not only enable more effective communication with office staff, but can also boost the efficiency of operations.
Mail (server, client and AVP)
Whatever your specific requirements, this unique, general mail module will always be necessary for email use or for accessing the web calendar. The add-on packages determine whether you collect your email through webmail, Outlook or IMAP service, etc. <this seems unclear>We offer a mail server module and a module for centrally-managed mail clients. If you wish, an anti-virus/spam module can be added. Where email is the central electronic communication centre, we also offer virus and spyware scans, and can perform spam control from this central point.
Fileserver (Appletalk, Samba and File FTP)
The Fileserver module makes it possible to save individual files and documents from employees centrally and make them available to others within the organisation. If you wish, the fileserver can also be used to make documents available to authorised third parties over the internet. Depending on your requirements, files can be shared with third parties using Appletalk, Samba or File FTP.
Local management
Our local management add-on module gives you access, through a regular browser, to detailed user settings information <what type of settings?> and provides an overview of your network system. With this module, a professional system administrator can perform all the important tasks that they would normally do onsite from a remote location. This makes it possible for organisations with decentralised ways of working to carry out their entire system administration from the most convenient location.
